Hindsights ~ What I would tell "little" Kathy:

I'm sharing from some rambling, long ago thoughts written to my younger self . . .

Don't give in to peer pressure. It leads to:
   Bad habits
   False admiration
   Getting into trouble
   Being a follower
Working at only half of your capacity
Read lots of books. Maybe someday you'll write one!
Choose a hobby and become the best you can be at it. It might make you a living some day.
Never believe that having a boy "like" you is important -- it's not. If he does, he does.
Choose your friends carefully (see "peer pressure). If they're really friends, they'll be there
for you, won't backstab, or get you into trouble.
Don't spread rumors . . . it not only depreciates their reputation, but yours as well.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation -- character is what you really
are, reputation is merely what others think you are.
Don't screw around in school. Bad grades will come around and bite you in the butt.
Remember that you can't please everyone.
Make good choices. You and you alone are responsible for your outcome.
Life's short -- don't "save" things for special occasions.
Learn to spend and save wisely. You'll be a happier adult.
Don't waste time trying to reform toxic personalities -- spend time with nourishing ones.
   Choose friends wisely.
Don't be a toxic personality -- you'll be lonely.
Value your elders. They'll be gone too soon and you'll find yourself dwelling on "shoulda,
   coulda, woulda" thoughts.
Be a "list maker" only if it's going to streamline your life.
Learn to fix things. It'll gain you some independence.
Accomplish/finish at least one thing every day, no matter how small. Then . . .
Reward yourself.
Always look good when you go out. Yes, even in your "grubbies".  < 60's word for ultra
   casual. :)
If you touch public things, don't touch your nose, eyes, or mouth without washing first.
If you acquire a pet, love it and commit to it totally. And be there for it when it's time has
   come to leave you.
Then, adopt another one.
Go ahead and let your mom control your hair for awhile. You're her little toy. Besides, it'll be
   your worry soon enough.
Learn to say "no" when you know it's the right choice. It's better than being resentful or sorry
   later.
Never ever compromise your integrity, or allow anyone else to.
If you make a promise, keep it.

That's enough for this time. To be continued . . .

 I'm the one with attitude!
